Open Lecture: Implementing Gender Equality in the Work Environment of Scientists
Plats: Room E306 in the Arrhenius laboratories
The Gender Academy at Stockholm University wishes to present new seminar series on gender, gender equality, and natural sciences. The first lecture will take place on March 30th.
”Implementing Gender Equality in the Work Environment of Scientists” is presented by associate professor Minna Salminen Karlsson and doctor Nina Almgren from Uppsala University. During the lecture they will discuss their work in the EU-project FESTA.
Female Empowerment in Science and Technology Academia (FESTA) aims to change the working environment for academic researchers, and particularly encourages female researchers to stay and make careers within academia. FESTA partners will take actions on certaincore issues frequently overlooked by looking into the daily environment of researchers: formal and informal decision processes, meeting cultures, PhD supervision, and perceptions of excellence in hiring.
Research environments in different European contexts can use the variety of measures presented by FESTA for addressing core issues in their gender equality work. FESTA formulates toolkits and manuals that are communicated on national and European levels in workshops, conferences and through the different network of the FESTA partners.
